Environmental responsibility includes waste and waste water, air, land, product, packaging, energy, supply chain, warehouse, and transportation. NPC’s understanding and commitment to the environment has always been strong and is translated to procedure at chicken farms, hatchery, and feed mill. A further step is taken at the slaughter house which includes several projects that reflect strong commitment.

WATER AND WASTE WATER MANAGMENT

The most important system is the one at the slaughter house which enables monitoring and analysis of water consumption and implements corrective actions once immediately needed. The most important project that NPC is running is the water recycling project. It is a big investment managed by quality service team for the purpose of recycling the water that is used during the operation of production cycle. The modern waste water treatment plant, which is part of the slaughter house’s business operation converts neighboring desert areas to green land.

The National Poultry Company has a dedicated energy management team at each company site. Energy consumption is considered a serious part of the business as it is a necessity throughout the production cycle and during storage of the final product. Each site is supported with the most developed system that ensures correct and proper use of energy. Clear procedures and methods of control for ventilation, lighting, and heating system at the breeders’, broilers farms and hatchery are implemented. Slaughterhouse and meat process plant are supported with highly developed refrigeration, and compressor systems for energy management and control. Cold rooms and freezing units and storage of final product at the slaughterer and meat process plant are supported with cooling systems that ensure energy saving as well excellent quality final products. Moreover, to optimize energy consumption, NPC is considered the leader in building the concept of utilizing reused chicken fat. Part of the slaughterhouse operation is the rendering plant that converts the waste of chicken fat to energy.

WASTE RECYLING

The National Poultry Company believes and adopts the international concept and guide lines of protecting human and environment health. Clear procedures are implemented to minimize the quantity of waste resultant from different operation cycles. Special programs at each business entity are in place for the purpose of reducing and managing waste in raw material, packaging material, products, tools, equipment …etc. Throughout each business cycle, the process of sorting waste is done to understand the nature of the waste in order to analyze how to proceed according to its nature, quantity and charter. One of the most complicated methods of waste management treatment is at the slaughterhouse. High technology machines and system treat the material resulted from poultry production like the feathers and the internal organs. The rendering plant, part of the slaughterhouse, operates with the highest technology in this field of industry. Poultry fat is recovered and used to produce energy as part of the company’s energy management.
